Why is the UNE-EN 1090-1:2011+A1:2012 Standard important for your company?

Since July 1, 2014, it is mandatory for the commercialization within the European Union that metal structures bear their CE marking, issued by the manufacturer. The steel and aluminum structures that are built under the harmonized standard UNE-EN 1090-1:2011+A1:2012 carry the CE mark. Scope of the standard

The harmonized standard UNE-EN 1090-1:2011+A1:2012 includes in its scope of application steel and aluminum structures that are permanently incorporated and support loads. These are structural elements that together with other elements constitute the final supporting structure that will satisfy the intended use of the structure. This implies that it covers a large number of possible structures and components in various fields. The rule affects:

Fabricated structures

Structures manufactured in a workshop made of steel or aluminum. Works carried out on site that will be affected by other regulations are excluded.

Structures for civil works

Structures intended to be permanently incorporated into a civil work or building. Scaffolding or movable elements are excluded.

Load structures

Structures intended to support load. The person responsible for the conformity of the product is always the manufacturing company, regardless of who has made the design.

Requirements for the implementation of the UNE-EN 1090 Standard

The UNE-EN 1090-1:2011+A1:2012 Standard establishes the necessary requirements to be able to issue the CE marking for steel and aluminum structures.

A certifying company must audit the Factory Production Control system.
